A Little History Essay In a government sponsored website one can find the following information regarding the ancestry of most Taiwanese: Archaeologists have found evidence of prehistoric human habitation in Taiwan that dates back 12,000 to 15,000 years, and suggests that the earliest ancestors of Taiwan’s present inhabitants came from at least two places: southern China and Austronesia. This also explains the influence of Chinese culture that is so evident in the whole of Taiwan culture. Food is the closest thing to culture and since Taiwan is closely related to Mainland China in terms of culture, there is also a significant similarity in the way food is prepared. This is a factor to consider for any expatriate coming in to work. If the expatriate is used to eating Chinese food then there is no problem adjusting to the culinary preference of the Taiwanese people. The Economy In the CIA World Factbook a bright outlook is seen with regards to business opportunities, â€Å"Taiwan has a dynamic capitalist economy with gradually decreasing guidance of investment and foreign trade by government authorities [†¦] Exports have provided the primary impetus for industrialization. The trade surplus is substantial, and foreign reserves are the world’s third largest [†¦] China has overtaken the US to become Taiwan’s largest export market† (see CIA). The last statement in the above-mentioned information, the one about China becoming the number export market for this nation speaks volumes about the economic potential of Taiwan. This also tells of its strategic position. Moreover, judging from this business relationship in spite of the shaky political relationship with the People’s Republic of China hints at Taiwan’s seriousness to overcome any obstacle to become a serious economic player in the region, in Asia and the world in general. Conclusion Looking at Taiwan and South Korea there is not much difference. This means that if I am forced to go to either one then I will be able to survive, thrive, and most probably succeed. Yet, since I have a choice in this matter, then I will choose Taiwan over South Korea. The following reasons supports my decision. Culture As mentioned earlier my family originally came from China. This means that I was raised in a family that practices or even cherishes values similar to those in China. Now, since Taiwan is considered part of China then it also implies that both countries share similar cultural traits. The same could not be said of South Korea whose culture is very different from the Chinese of mainland China. Having similar culture could also mean that it will take me a shorter amount of time to learn the dos and donts of the Taiwanese culture. This translates to efficiency and promotion up the corporate ladder. This also means less mistakes and an increase in customer satisfaction. It also enable me to contribute in terms of giving inputs on how to improve servcie since I fully understand what the Taiwanes customers are actually saying and not merely interpreting their words into English and assuming that translated words are the actual intent of their communication. Food The closest thing to culture is food. In this aspect Taiwanese cuisine is similar to those in the mainland. This means that less trouble for me nutrition wise. Many have said that the most difficult part in crossing over other culture is not the different clothes and not even the language barrier. What is most difficult according to many is learning to stomach the exotic foods available in a particular locale.

Intro: Sixty-five million years ago, some phenomenon triggered mass extinctions on the lands and in the oceans so profound that they define the geological boundary between the older Mesozoic Era, often called the "Age of Reptiles," and the modern Cenozoic Era, the "Age of Mammals." On a finer scale, the extinctions define the boundary between the Cretaceous (geological symbol, "K"), and Tertiary ("T") periods. This mass extinction is usually referred to as the K-T extinctions. The dinosaurs became extinct during the K-T mass extinction. To examine how the K-T extinctions fit into a broader perspective, please see the The cause of the K-T extinctions is one of the great mysteries in science, and many scientists have proposed theories to account for it. Theories span a vast spectrum of causes including: sea level change, supernova explosions, climate change, and on and on. Beginning in the 1980s, two new theories became the topic of an intense scientific debate. They are the K-T impact extinction theory originated by the Nobelist physicist, Luis Alvarez, and his team, and the K-T Deccan Traps extinction theory, which, for short, is called volcano-greenhouse theory. Details of the Impact Theory In the mid-late 1970s, Luis Alvarez and his impact team began searching for the cause of the K-T extinctions. His evidence of impact was enrichment of the chemical, iridium, in a thin layer of clay a few centimenters thick at the K-T boundary. His original theory held that a giant asteroid struck earth 65 million years ago, blasting so much dust into the atmosphere that it blocked out sunlight, and plunged earth into the blackness and cold of a sudden, short-duration, "impact winter." According to Alvarez theory, the global blackout triggered extinctions among the plant kingdom, and then among herbivores that depended upon plants for food, and then among the carnivores that ate the herbivores. Those smaller animals that could hide and hibernate until the sun came out again must have sruvived and formed the animals that there are today. There is other evidence for this theory : there is a layer of iridium found on top of the fossils which can be found all over the world. this is important becouse there is a lot of iridium on asteroids while on earth it is only deep down inside the crater. Details of the Volcano Theory: Another less popular theory to explain the disappearance of the dinosaurs suggests that a drop in the oxygen levels in the lower atmosphere led to the gradual death of all kinds of species.

In this strand the precise events that happened from the begginning of the module to the end of the module will be discussed .The critical incidents will be dicussed.Views and Feelings that arose during the critical incident will also be discussed and one will also identify what should have happened. During the first seminar of this module my group was given a team building exerscise or experimental learing to blow ballons and make something with the ballons. The whole group participated in this exerscise.We interacted ,made descisions and problem solved. Burnard P( 1996) suggest that experiment learning is through doing and reflecting on the doing. One has two actions to act or to notice how we act. It is only through noticing what we do that we hope to learn about our behaviour. The experimental learning which was making the ballons helped me to do an acyivity and reflect on my strenghs and weakness working as a team member. I noticed that my strength was that i was confident to do the task and talk to group members and i was confident to make my own descisions to place the blow ballons and place them on the wall. In the next seminar the contact address of the Mulberry centre was given to the whole group. and team roles were choosen. Two group members decided to analyse information about the community profile, two group members decided to visit the Mulberry centre to collect information about the centre, one member decided to do the executive summary two members decided to prepare the powerpoint .The other group member was not present so one person in the group decided that she work with me to present The experimental learning helped me to reflect and identify that my strenghth as a team member, i noticed that i was confident to talk to people and confident to make my own descosions so i descided to tell group members that i was confident to deliver the power point presentation. In the next seminar group a critical incident occured two group members were to feedback to the whole group about the mulberry centre but they were unable to do this because they did not get an early visiting date. This meant that they had to visit the following week. I felt fustrated and worried because i felt i needed to read and understand the information early before presenting. However i managed to make decisions in the group , i suggested that we met at another time and interacted with all members to inform them about the next meeting time However, in the group i did not ask the the group member who visited the centre to give me the web address of the centre. felt worried because i could not read and understand the mulberry centre information earlier before presenting. I. Next time i will ask the groupmember in the group about the web address and phone number of the centre at an earlier stage so that i can read and understand the information,make notes and practice presenting. In the next seminar the two group members feedback to the whole group about the centre and i was actively listening. One members asked the other group members about what services therapist can offer to the centre and she told the whole group.In the next seminar group i meet with my group to talk about our reflection as working as a team. One person in the group decided that each member should write a sentence of our reflection of working as a team and every one agreed and wrote a sentence . The conversion of the Apostle Paul is one of the more well-known occurrences in biblical history. Paul’s conversion, on the Road to Damascus, shows that God’s power is great and that anyone can become a servant of the Lord. Paul became the foremost authority of the teachings of Christ in biblical history. Paul worked fervently, after his conversion, to spread the words of Christ throughout the known world. In this essay, I will explain the events that took place for the conversion and some thoughts as to why Paul converted.
